Study Listening Second Edition Study Listening is for intermediate level and above students who are planning to study at a university or college where English is the language of instruction, or who need to attend international conferences where English is used. The course focussed on listening to lectures and note-taking. The Second Edition has been comprehensively revised and restructured with these new features: • eight brand new lectures on academic topics with speakers from six different countries. • a focus on six macrostrategies for listening: predicting; monitoring; responding; clarifying: inferencing; evaluating • more post-listening tasks to deal with comprehension problems Activities that provide suitable IELTS preparation are highlighted throughout the book. Study Skills has transcripts of the lectures and sample notes so can be used for self-study. It is accompanied by an audio CD set (2) or audio cassette set (2). Teaching notes are now included at the back of the book. Study Listening is part of a series, Study Writing, Study Reading, Study Speaking, Study Skills, Study Tasks. Second Editions of Study Speaking, Reading and Skills will appear at the same time as the Second Edition of Study Listening. The Second Edition of Study Writing will appear in late 2005. We are not planning a second edition of Study Tasks.
